Sarah Penman

Sarah is a senior leader in the Public Service, with a career in national security spanning intelligence and cyber security, policy and liaison.

In her current role, Sarah leads the information security strategy and programme for the GCSB and NZSIS. This includes the delivery of cyber security operations, risk management, policy and standards for the two agencies to deliver outcomes for New Zealand and build a resilient and secure intelligence community.

Sarah is a member of the NCSC Executive, and accountable to the Director-General as the GCSB CISO. She is the senior champion for the GCSB and NZSIS’ Women in Tech community and an active advocate for our Rainbow community.

Sarah is CISM qualified, and holds a BA in Languages and Literature and a Graduate Diploma in Translation from the University of Auckland.
