Peter-Lucas Jones is CEO of Te Hiku Media, where he leads pioneering work in Māori natural language processing (NLP) to develop world-class speech recognition, transcription, and text-to-speech tools for te reo Māori. A Māori language broadcaster and digital innovator, he is passionate about Indigenous data sovereignty, corpus development, and ethical AI. Under his leadership, Te Hiku Media’s speech-to-text system has outperformed global tech companies, enabling new digital products and cultural preservation. Of Ngāi Takoto, Ngāti Kahu, Te Rārawa, and Te Aupōuri descent, Peter-Lucas also serves in governance roles, including Deputy Chair of Whakaata Māori and Councillor for Te Raki Ward.
